CSSC Chengxi Shipyard Starts Construction of 16,000 DWT Self-unloading Vessel for CSL Group

On May 30, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a steel-cutting ceremony for a 16,000 DWT self-unloading vessel being built for CSL Group.

The 16,000 DWT self-unloading vessel currently under construction is a shuttle transfer self-unloading bulk carrier independently developed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard. The vessel is 140 meters long, 31 meters wide, and 8.7 meters deep, with a design speed of 11 knots and an unloading speed of 4,000 tons per hour. After completion, it will be used to transfer cargo from shallow water wharves on the coast to large tonnage cargo ships in deep water areas.

CSL Group is the world’s largest owner of self-unloading vessels and the third largest owner of cement carriers, with operations spanning the globe. For many years, CSSC Chengxi has collaborated with CSL Group to build more than 10 self-unloading vessels of various types.
