CIMC SOE Holds Naming Ceremony for Dual-purpose 40,000 cbm LPG/Liquid Ammonia Carriers

On May 27, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) held a naming ceremony for two 40,000 cubic meter LPG/liquid ammonia carriers.

The two vessels have been named the “MORIOND” and the “MOTTARET,” respectively, and are scheduled for delivery in mid-June and mid-September, respectively.

This vessel represents a major technological breakthrough for CIMC SOE in the field of high-end clean energy transport equipment. Incorporating the latest design concepts and technologies, it is equipped with an eco-friendly dual-fuel main engine that not only delivers a design speed of up to 16 knots but also significantly reduces pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions during operation through the use of a high-pressure LPG dual-fuel main engine, thereby meeting the environmental requirements set by the International Maritime Organization.

In terms of cargo capacity, this vessel features three IMO Type A cargo tanks. This design not only optimizes cargo space utilization but also enhances overall economic performance. These cargo tanks can flexibly carry a variety of liquefied gas cargoes, including LPG, liquid ammonia, and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), enabling the vessel to adapt to diverse transportation needs and enhancing its market competitiveness and flexibility.
