On March 6, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, officially started constructing the 25,900 DWT methanol dual-fuel stainless steel chemical tanker “XT Swallow”, which belongs to Shanghai Xingtong Lianfa Shipping Co., Ltd. — a subsidiary of Xingtong Shipping.
This vessel is the sixth in a series of 25,900 DWT methanol dual-fuel stainless steel chemical tankers. The previously built vessels of the same type, “XT Sea Lion” and “XT Seal”, have been put into operation and have demonstrated excellent performance and market competitiveness. This vessel is also the second vessel jointly built by Xingtong Shipping and Xiamen Jianfa Supply Chain Logistics Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jianfa Co., Ltd.
Commencement of construction on this vessel marks another significant step in deepening cooperation between the two parties and advancing their strategic focus on green, intelligent, and high-end shipping.
The vessel measures 158.98 meters in length, 27.00 meters in beam, and 14.20 meters in depth. It is equipped with 22 cargo holds, offering a total cargo capacity of 29,500 cubic meters, and is classified by the China Classification Society (CCS).
The vessel is equipped with an intelligent energy efficiency management system + intelligent navigation system + intelligent monitoring system for engine room equipment and cargo oil + behavior recognition system, enabling real-time monitoring of ship operations, optimizing efficiency management, and enhancing operational efficiency through big data analysis.
The vessel incorporates provisions for methanol fuel retrofitting, meets EEDI Phase 3 requirements, and complies with IMO Tier III emissions standards, perfectly aligning with green shipping mandates. Its single-pump, single-pipe independent cargo tanks enable simultaneous transport of over 20 categories of high-end chemicals, delivering highly efficient and economical shipping value.
