On February 13, New Yangzi Shipbuilding under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group delivered the 50,000 DWT oil tanker “DION” to shipowner TSAKOS. The vessel cast off from the shipyard wharf and officially entered operation.
This type of vessel has an overall length of 183.00 meters, a beam of 32.20 meters, a depth of 19.10 meters, and a design draft of 11.00 meters. It is classified by Lloyd’s Register. TSAKOS owner has ordered a total of two 50,000 DWT oil tankers from New Yangzi Shipbuilding, and this vessel is the second in this series. The first vessel was delivered to the owner for operation in mid-last month.
The naming ceremony for the vessel was held on January 12. On that day, Mr. Georges Agostis, Project Manager of the New Shipbuilding Department of TSAKOS, and Mr. Du Chengzong, Vice General Manager of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and General Manager of New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents for the “DION” vessel on behalf of their respective parties.
