GSI Delivers First 111,000 DWT LNG Dual-Fuel Tanker to Chandris Group, 200+ Days Early

On February 4, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, officially named and delivered the first 111,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel crude/product tanker to Greece’s Chandris Group — more than 200 days ahead of the contracted delivery schedule.

This series consists of two vessels, representing GSI’s independently developed new generation of LNG dual-fuel LRII tankers. Utilizing both fuel oil and LNG for propulsion, each vessel measures 250 meters in length overall, 44 meters in beam, and 14.7 meters in structural draft. With a deadweight tonnage of approximately 111,000 tons, they maintain a service speed of 14.5 knots.

The vessel’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) has reached Phase 3, featuring high speed, light lightship weight, low energy consumption, and strong adaptability. It ranks among the top vessels of its class in terms of energy consumption metrics, environmental performance, and reliability requirements.

To date, in the first 35 days of 2026, GSI has delivered eight new vessels consecutively, setting a new record for the number of ships delivered during this period and marking a significant achievement in achieving a strong start to the year’s production and operations.

It is understood that seven of the eight vessels are green vessels powered by dual-fuel systems utilizing clean energy sources such as LNG and methanol. These represent the cutting edge of green shipping today, not only complying with global environmental regulations but also actively assisting shipowners in addressing energy transition challenges through concrete actions. This demonstrates GSI’s commitment as a driving force in the development of green shipbuilding. It is reported that five of the eight delivered vessels were independently developed by GSI, with both ship types featuring fully independent intellectual property rights.
