On January 28, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (“WS”) held a naming and delivery ceremony for “SC DIAMOND”, the first 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker built for SC Shipping (Shanghai).
It is understood that this vessel is the first in a series of 10 stainless steel chemical tankers with a deadweight tonnage of 25,900 tons. It integrates comprehensive advantages of being green and low-carbon, featuring high-end intelligence, and serving a global market. Its 2205 duplex stainless steel cargo holds are meticulously divided into 22 independent tanks, offering excellent cargo adaptability and loading flexibility to meet diverse chemical transportation requirements.
Its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) surpasses the IMO Phase III standard, and it is equipped with a highly efficient propulsion system and energy-saving features, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. It has obtained the “Methanol Ready” and “Smart Ship (INF)” class notations from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), demonstrating both future fuel adaptability and intelligent operational capabilities, contributing innovative practices and technological benchmarks to green shipping in China and globally.
It is worth noting that the successful delivery of the “SC DIAMOND”, a high-end chemical tanker, is a significant milestone for China’s shipbuilding industry, marking its progress from “following” to “keeping pace” in the field of high-end, green, and intelligent vessels. It also signifies the mature implementation of a collaborative model encompassing the entire industrial chain: “designed in China, built in China, and operated in China.”
This vessel represents the latest achievement of the deep mutual trust and long-term strategic collaboration between WS and SC Shipping (Shanghai). Since the partnership began, the two parties have jointly placed orders for a total of 16 vessels.
The SC DIAMOND vessel, evolving from blueprint to reality, exemplifies the pursuit of excellence through seamless collaboration across the entire industrial chain.
