Guangzhou Wenchuan Heavy Industry Starts Construction of Type-A Cargo Hold for Southwest Shipping’s Second 41,000 m³ LPG/Ammonia Carrier

On January 26, Guangzhou Wenchuan Heavy Industry commenced construction of the Type-A cargo hold for the second 41,000 m³ LPG/ammonia carrier for Southwest Shipping at its Zhongshan base.

The Type-A cargo tank project under construction represents the second set of four ship sets (totaling 12 IMO-compliant independent Type-A liquid cargo tanks).

This ship package includes three Type-A liquid cargo tanks. The main tank bodies are constructed from cryogenic carbon-manganese steel, with a total net weight of approximately 2,330 tons upon completion.

Specifically, the net capacity of Cargo Hold 1 is 11,560 m³, with dimensions of 36.8 m × 27.1 m × 15.39 m; the net capacity of Cargo Hold 2 is approximately 15,110 m³, with dimensions of 39.2 m × 27.1 m × 15.39 m; Cargo hold No. 3 has a net volume of approximately 14,330 m³ and dimensions of 39.2 m × 27.1 m × 15.39 m.

It is understood that the construction of the A compartment onboard is currently progressing according to schedule and will be completed and delivered strictly in accordance with the established milestones.
