On January 14, Sanfu Shipbuilding held a steel-cutting ceremony in its steel fabrication workshop for a 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel being built for a German shipowner.

The vessel has an overall length of 159.75 meters, a beam of 22.80 meters, a structural draft of 8.30 meters, and a speed of approximately 15.5 knots. Classed by DNV, the vessel is equipped with two 350-tonne cranes, offering a combined lifting capacity of up to 700 tonnes.
Designed with two cargo holds, the larger hold spans 89.25 meters in total length and features a three-tier second deck. This configuration provides excellent cargo adaptability, enabling efficient transport of oversized and heavy cargo such as wind power equipment.
It is understood that this series of 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels was jointly designed and developed by Sanfu Shipbuilding and the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). Building upon the proven 12,500 DWT multi-purpose ship design, it has undergone comprehensive optimization and upgrades, achieving significant improvements in cargo capacity, lifting performance, fuel efficiency, overall vessel performance and intelligent capabilities.
