CSSC NDRI Wins Bid for CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou Base Floating Dock EPC Project

Recently, CSSC Ninth Design & Research Institute (CSSC NDRI) successfully won the bid for the EPC project of the floating dock and quay crane at CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou base.

The project mainly includes the construction of a new floating dock (detailed design), the construction of supporting facilities for the new floating dock, and the procurement of a new gantry crane for the No. 5 wharf. It adopts the EPC general contracting model, which includes consulting services, surveying, design, procurement, and construction of the project.

CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou base has maintained close collaboration with CSSC NDRI since its establishment in 2015. This successful bid fully demonstrates CSSC NDRI’s comprehensive capabilities spanning third-party consulting, survey and design, process equipment procurement, and EPC project management.

Data indicates that CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding is currently the only shipbuilding and offshore engineering enterprise in Guangxi with military qualification, the first military enterprise in Qinzhou, and the maritime defense equipment support base closest to the South China Sea.

CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou base covers a planned area of 3.61 million square meters with a total investment of 7.5 billion yuan. It has business segments including ship repair, shipbuilding, marine engineering, special vessels and non-ship products. Its main business includes shipbuilding of ships under 100,000 tons, repair and conversion of ships under 300,000 tons and marine engineering products, manufacturing of non-ship products such as steel structures, and related ship supporting businesses.

On January 25, 2021, CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding’s Qinzhou base formally delivered its first vessel, the 5,000 cbm LPG carrier Zhaoyuan. Commissioned by Hainan Zhaogang Shipping Co., Ltd., this vessel marks China’s first LPG carrier designed and constructed in compliance with the new IGC Code and CCS regulations. At the time of delivery, it represented the largest high-tech, high-value-added vessel ever built in the Beibu Gulf.
