On January 12, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding formally signed the delivery documents for the 9,000 CEU pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Grande Manila, which was constructed on order for Italy’s Grimaldi Group.

The “GRANDE MANILA” is the fifth 9,000 CEU PCTC in the project, featuring a standard loading capacity of 9,000 vehicles and compatibility with electric vehicles, conventional fuel vehicles, and heavy roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) cargo.
The vessel incorporates a new low-fuel-consumption main engine and integrates energy-saving features such as twisted rudders and hub fin stabilizers, significantly reducing energy consumption. It is equipped with a medium-voltage shore power system enabling zero-carbon emissions during berthing and has obtained RINA’s “Ammonia Ready” certification, reserving technical space for future zero-carbon fuel.
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding stated that the delivery of this new vessel marks another fruitful outcome of its strategic cooperation with the GRIMALDI Group in the new year. As a high-tech, high-value-added vessel type, the serial construction of the 9000CEU PCTC demonstrates Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s continuous breakthroughs in the high-end vessel sector and its capabilities in lean management.
