Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Delivers 9th 37,000 DWT Great Lakes Bulk Carrier to Poland’s PZM

On January 8, Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (SHGSIC, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation) successfully delivered the 37,000 DWT Great Lakes bulk carrier to Poland’s PZM. This vessel marks the company’s second delivery in 2026 and the ninth vessel in the series. The vessel is named “POLSTEAM WIGRY”.

The POLSTEAM WIGRY measures approximately 199.99 meters in overall length, 23.7 meters in beam, and 11.3 meters in structural draft, with a design speed of 13 knots. As the first vessel in its series to implement methanol-ready design and main engine retrofit with EGR technology, it achieved significant technical breakthroughs, accumulating valuable experience for subsequent construction of similar vessels.

Its main engines and main generators meet both the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emission standards and EEDI Phase III requirements. Equipped with internationally leading SCR nitrogen oxide emission purification systems, shaft generators, and torque rudders, it delivers outstanding performance in maneuverability, economy, and energy efficiency. Classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR), it possesses significant market competitiveness.

The successful delivery of this vessel once again demonstrates SHGSIC’s leading design and construction capabilities in the Great Lakes bulk carrier segment, along with its efficient serial delivery capabilities.
