CIMC SOE Launches Second 24,000 m³ LEG Carrier for UK’s Petredec

On January 8, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd (CIMC SOE) successfully completed the launching milestone for the second 24,000 cubic meter LEG carrier built for UK-based Petredec. This is also the first vessel launched by CIMC SOE in 2026, marking a steady progress and a good start to the new year’s production tasks.

This 24,000 cubic meter LEG carrier was independently developed and designed by CIMC SOE, representing the cutting edge of the next generation of ethylene carrier technology. By optimizing the hull lines and layout design, the vessel achieves a design speed of up to 16 knots while increasing its effective cargo carrying capacity, fully balancing operational efficiency and transportation capacity.

In terms of power system, the vessel is equipped with a WinGD 5X52-S2.0-iSCR main engine and innovatively integrates advanced environmental protection equipment such as a scrubbing tower and shaft-driven generator. While significantly reducing pollutant emissions, it effectively reduces greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption, fully aligning with the global shipping industry’s green and low-carbon development trend.

The successful launch of this vessel is the result of close collaboration and efficient coordination between CIMC SOE, the shipowner, and the classification society, further demonstrating the company’s technological strength and delivery capabilities in the niche market of small and medium-sized liquefied gas carriers. As a leading global manufacturer of small and medium-sized liquefied gas carriers, CIMC SOE will continue to focus on high-tech, high-value-added vessel types, committed to creating safe, efficient, and green marine transportation equipment.
