On January 5-6, 2026, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) successfully delivered two 63,600 DWT bulk carriers.

The delivered 63,600 DWT bulk carriers feature green hull design, with an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters and a draft of 18.85 meters. Their design embodies green and energy-efficient principles.
One of the vessels is equipped with advanced desulfurization systems, fully compliant with the environmental regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), ensuring reliable performance for safe and stable operations on global routes. Additionally, the vessel features an optimized hull design and energy-efficient main engine configuration, effectively reducing navigation resistance. Its fuel consumption rate is significantly lower than the industry average for vessels of comparable tonnage, demonstrating clear advantages in green and low-carbon performance.
Notably, during the block construction phase, the vessel pioneered an innovative “phased owner-supervision-free” management model. Under this approach, thorough communication with the owner and ABS classification society clarified that the shipyard would assume full primary responsibility for block construction quality, while collaborating with ABS to complete inspections at critical milestones.

By rigorously implementing high-standard internal control procedures, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) strengthened internal self-inspection and mutual inspection. The vessel’s construction quality earned unanimous praise from both the shipowner and classification society. This practice not only validated the effectiveness of the quality management system but also demonstrated the company’s robust quality control capabilities in shipbuilding.
The successful delivery of the two vessels has laid a solid foundation for COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan)’s production targets in 2026. The shipbuilder will continue to uphold lean management practices, deepen technological innovation, and continuously enhance its core competitiveness and customer satisfaction, steadfastly embarking on a new journey toward high-quality development.
