Wuhu Shipyard’s Self-installation Platform Enters Commissioning Prep Phase

Recently, the self-installation production and processing platform built by the Nantong base of Wuhu Shipyard was officially named “Haiyang Shiyou 166”, marking the entry of the Beibu Gulf oil and gas development equipment into the preparation stage for commissioning.

The platform named in this announcement completed its launching operations ahead of schedule on December 29, 2025. The platform was transported to the Tongzhou Bay waters via roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) loading of its modular vehicle units onto a semi-submersible barge, then towed by tugboats to deep waters for submersion and separation.

As reported, the platform has a total weight of 12,000 tons, and the modular transporter fleet deployed for its RoRo operation boasts 400 axles. Accounting for one-fifth of the total volume of similar operations nationwide, this project fully demonstrates the technological prowess of China’s homegrown high-end marine engineering equipment.

The “Haiyang Shiyou 166” platform serves as the core equipment for developing the western section of the Weizhou 10-3 oilfield. Its completion and commissioning will further enhance oil and gas production capacity in the Beibu Gulf. Following the successful conclusion of the naming and mobilization ceremony, all platform operations have entered the final sprint phase. Wuhu Shipyard will spare no effort to ensure the smooth completion of towing, installation, and commissioning, contributing to China’s offshore oil and gas resource development.
