Recently, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (HPWC) and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) successfully secured an order for 2+2 Honghu-class 1,900 TEU feeder container vessels from Venergy Maritime Limited, a prominent Greek shipping company. This collaboration follows an order for the same vessel type signed with Greece’s Latsco Shipping in July this year, marking another order from the Greek market. It demonstrates the Greek client’s high recognition of the Huangpu Wenchong brand and its capabilities.
The “Honghu” 1900TEU feeder container vessel, independently developed by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, stands as the company’s flagship product in this sector. The company has secured orders for 56 vessels of this type, with 30 already delivered, their operational footprint spanning the globe.
Embodying green and intelligent design principles, this vessel type reduces weight and enhances cargo capacity through hull optimization. Its optimized hull form and draft address the operational demands of multiple port calls and high-frequency loading/unloading, significantly improving vessel economics and market adaptability. This design aligns closely with the shipping industry’s current trend toward green and low-carbon development.
It is reported that the shipowner, Venergy Maritime Limited, is affiliated with the Greek Vyron Vasileiadis Group (V Group). As the exclusive partner of the Suez Canal Authority, the group maintains a robust port operations network across the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Egypt.
