With the deepening implementation of the Yangtze River Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the advancement of the national green transportation strategy, the application of methanol fuel in the shipping sector has become an industry trend. The official commencement of construction of the “Changjiang 7” cruise ship marks the beginning of a new era for luxury cruise ships on the Yangtze River, characterized by “zero-carbon transformation” and “intelligent upgrading.”
The cruise ship features “green + intelligent” as its core highlights. It is 149.99 meters long, 23.20 meters wide, and has a maximum passenger capacity of 638 people. Powered by a single methanol fuel system, the vessel reduces emissions by 99% for sulfur oxides, 60% for nitrogen oxides, and 95% for particulate matter compared to traditional fuel-powered ships, achieving a 20% reduction in carbon emissions.

Additionally, its intelligent applications—including the Smart Energy Efficiency Management System, Cruise Operation Intelligence Management System, and Smart Cabin System—deliver a more comfortable, quiet, and relaxing travel experience for passengers. These innovations achieve vibration reduction, noise suppression, and comfort levels meeting the highest “Green Ship” classification standards set by the China Classification Society.
The “Changjiang 7” cruise ship is expected to be delivered at the end of December 2026, operating a comprehensive leisure and vacation tourism route along the Yangtze River from Chongqing to Shanghai. In terms of its operational philosophy, the cruise ship envisions showcasing the unique cultural connotations and new-era characteristics of a new generation of high-end Yangtze River cruise ships. Through more environmentally friendly power, a more intelligent experience, and a deeper cultural connotation, it connects world heritage and intangible cultural heritage resources along the Yangtze River, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the Yangtze River International Golden Tourism Belt.
