Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding Cuts Steel for First 5,000m³ LPG Carrier

On November 20, Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding of Cccc Fourth Harbor Engineering (Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding) held a steel cutting ceremony for the first 5,000m³ LPG carrier.

The vessel measures 99.95 meters in length, 17.4 meters in beam, and 8 meters in draft. It is equipped with dual-liquid cargo storage tanks with a total capacity of approximately 5,000 cubic meters and boasts an endurance of 10,000 nautical miles.

Classed by China Classification Society and flying the Singapore flag, the vessel complies with international navigation standards as a fully pressurized liquefied petroleum gas carrier suitable for ocean voyages.

Its propulsion system features a single engine and single propeller design, with core equipment including one main engine, three main diesel generator sets, one bow thruster and one ballast water treatment system.

It is reported that the successful commencement of this vessel marks a significant achievement resulting from the collaboration between Tianjin Southwest Shipping and Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding. Featuring advanced design and green energy-saving technologies—including low-speed main engine and variable-frequency shaft generators—the vessel is projected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,900 tons.
