CIMC Raffles Holds Naming Ceremony For DNV ‘F(EV)’ Certified 7,000 CEU PCTC

On November 14, CIMC Raffles, a subsidiary of CIMC Group, held the naming ceremony for the “NOCC PACIFIC”, a 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier), at its Longkou construction base.

This vessel marks the first PCTC built by CIMC Raffles for Norwegian Car Carriers (NOCC), injecting new momentum into NOCC’s fleet upgrade and the global shipping industry’s green transition.

NOCC PACIFIC has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots. It features a capacity of 7,000 vehicle spaces and is equipped with two C-type LNG tanks along with dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines, enabling zero emissions during port operations.

The vessel has been awarded the DNV “Ammonia Ready” notation, preparing it for future use of lower-carbon fuels. During the construction process, CIMC Raffles implemented the “side section joining after prioritizing deck block shaping” mode for the first time, reducing the deformation of the hull outer plate by more than 15%. This effectively improved construction accuracy and shortened the construction cycle.

Notably, to address the surge in global maritime shipments of new energy vehicles and the resulting new safety challenges, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has mandated that classification societies develop specialized safety standards, with mandatory implementation scheduled to begin in January 2026. Against this backdrop, this vessel has proactively incorporated a design compliant with DNV’s “F(EV)” (Electric Vehicle) notation, becoming the world’s first PCTC to meet this new standard and setting a safety benchmark for the international maritime transport of new energy vehicles.

In recent years, CIMC Raffles’ Longkou construction base has grown into one of the world’s leading shipyards for building PCTCs. CIMC Raffles has signed contracts for multiple series of PCTCs with shipping companies including Sweden’s Wallenius Lines, Greece’s Atlas Maritime, and Monaco’s Zodiac Group.

The “NOCC PACIFIC” marks CIMC Raffles’ 15th PCTC delivery and the seventh PCTC to be delivered from the Longkou base in 2025, further solidifying CIMC Raffles’ mass delivery capabilities and leading position in the PCTC sector.

NOCC is a specialized automotive shipping company under JPMorgan Chase and the world’s first shipping enterprise to adopt PCTC technology. At the naming ceremony, NOCC CEO Olav Sollie stated, “The NOCC PACIFIC represents the cutting edge of technology today, marking another significant step forward for global shipping in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing environmental footprint.” Both the company and its clients highly commend CIMC Raffles’ construction quality and look forward to expanding cooperation in the future to build more high-quality vessels.

“NOCC is an outstanding shipowner with a long-standing history and forward-looking vision, and the two parties currently have several cooperative projects,” stated Wang Jianzhong, CEO and President of CIMC Raffles Group, at the naming ceremony. He emphasized that CIMC Raffles has always adhered to the philosophy of “Deliver with Excellence, Build Brotherhood,” providing leading and reliable equipment and solutions for global partners.

With the naming and delivery of the “NOCC PACIFIC”, CIMC Raffles once again demonstrated the strength and contribution of China’s offshore engineering enterprises in the global marine economy through its robust EPC turnkey capabilities. Moving forward, the company will continue to deepen its innovation capabilities, expand its global market footprint, and support the shipping industry’s low-carbon transition alongside the upgrading of China’s offshore engineering equipment sector.
