On October 15, Germany’s Meyer Werft delivered the third liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered cruise ship, the Disney Destiny, to Disney Cruise Line at the Port of Eemshaven in the Netherlands.
This cruise ship is a sister vessel to the Disney Wish (delivered in 2022) and the Disney Treasure (delivered in 2024), with operations expected to commence no later than November 2025.
The Disney Destiny features 1,250 guest staterooms and a gross tonnage of 144,256, accommodating approximately 4,000 guests and 1,555 crew members. By utilizing LNG fuel, the cruise ship significantly reduces emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx).
Meyer Werft has a long history of collaboration with Disney Cruise Line, having delivered the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy cruise ships to the company as early as 2010 and 2012.
