Romania’s Histria Shpmgm Orders Two Oil Tankers from Domestic Constanta Shipyard

Romanian shipowner Histria Shpmgm has ordered two 40,000 DWT oil tankers from compatriot Constanta Shipyard, according to shipbroker Bancosta.

Each vessel is valued at approximately $45 million, totaling around $90 million for the pair. Deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028.

According to its official website, Constanta Shipyard is located in Romania’s Black Sea region and ranks among Europe’s largest shipbuilding, repair, and conversion facilities. It operates two dry docks designed for vessels under 150,000 deadweight tons and under 250,000 deadweight tons, respectively, along with two floating docks with capacities of 8,000 tons and 15,000 tons.

Since its establishment, Constanta Shipyard has built and delivered over 4 million dwt vessels for Romanian and European shipowners, including product/chemical tankers, Aframax/Suezmax tankers, bulk carriers, floating docks, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ammonia carriers and offshore vessels. The yard’s most recent delivery was an IMO II product/chemical tanker, the “Histria Narvi”, in January 2025.

In the tanker industry, the company currently manages 11 IMO III-class product/chemical tankers with a deadweight of 41,000 tons and 2 IMO II/III-class product/chemical tankers with a deadweight of 40,000 tons, all constructed by Constanta Shipyard.
