The first Onboard Carbon Capture System(OCCS) provided by Headway Technology in China had been installed on the vessel “YUE DIAN 56” which owned by Guangzhou Yuedian Shipping Co. Ltd.
China Classification Society (CCS) Shanghai Rules & Research Institute and Zhejiang Branch provided the technical service, drawings approval and on-site survey to implement the project.

The streamlined Headway Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS) employed with high-speed centrifugal decarbonization technology and high-performance GNX-3 absorbent, which can significantly improve the carbon dioxide capture efficiency. The decarbonization efficiency of the new system exceeded 90%, and the purity of captured carbon dioxide would be above 99.6%. The success of OCCS installation was not only the breakthrough for Onboard Carbon Capture technology in China, but also the milestone in the global marine green technology.
To meet the standard of “Guidelines for Shipboard Liquid Carbon Dioxide Loading and Unloading Operations” published by China Classification Society, the captured carbon dioxide from “YUE DIAN 56” would be transported to the specific onshore unloading facility by the Liquefied CO2 carrier.
China Classification Society (CCS) would commit to the subsequent unloading and recycling of onboard captured carbon dioxide, provide the technical support and best service for reducing GHG emissions in shipping and GreenVoyage-2050.
