On September 15, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced that the company has signed a contract with a shipowner to build four container ships.
The total order value is 651.9 billion won (about US$469.6 million), with each ship priced at approximately US$117.4 million.
The new ship will be constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2028.
Including the latest orders, HD KSOE has secured orders for 90 snew ships worth $12.2 billion this year, achieving approximately 67.7% of its annual order target of $18.05 billion.
By ship type, this includes 5 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 6 LNG bunkering vessels, 8 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 56 container ships and 13 oil tankers.
