On August 21, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, successfully delivered its second 85,000 DWT new multi-purpose vessel, four months ahead of schedule.
The vessel is the largest new multi-purpose vessel built by Fujian Shipbuilding and the largest new multi-purpose vessel of its type in the world. It has an overall length of 225 meters, a beam of 36 meters, a deadweight of approximately 85,000 tons and a service speed of 15.5 knots.
Capable of transporting a variety of cargoes, including pulp, containers, and new energy vehicles, the vessel boasts strong adaptability and high loading and unloading efficiency. In terms of environmental protection, the vessel is equipped with a high-pressure SCR system and an open scrubber. Its energy efficiency meets EEDI Phase III requirements and is 50% lower than the baseline, demonstrating significant economic efficiency.
The vessel represents another major achievement resulting from the collaboration between CITIC Financial Leasing, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers and Fujian Shipbuilding. It not only lays the foundation for the construction of the subsequent 30 grain carriers but also demonstrates the synergistic advantages of all parties in green finance, high-end manufacturing, and shipping operations.
The first vessel in the series, the CSPC HORIZON, recently completed its maiden voyage, transporting more than 70,000 tons of soybeans from Santos Port in Brazil to China, fully verifying its reliable performance in bulk cargo transportation. The entire vessel is equipped with a rotary dehumidification and precise temperature and humidity control system to meet high-standard cargo transportation requirements.
The successful delivery of CSPC HORIZON represents a key step forward for Fujian Shipbuilding in implementing its green shipbuilding philosophy. It also represents a concrete step forward for COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers in building a world-class pulp vessel fleet and for CITIC Financial Leasing in supporting the development of a modern industrial system.
