On August 21, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard (Changhong International) kicked off construction of the fourth 50,000 DWT MR series tanker (Hull No. CHB5011) for Greek shipowner HORIZONTANKER.
It is reported that this MR vessels account for the largest proportion of the tanker fleet, and their supply and demand are crucial to the overall operation of the tanker market, presenting a promising market outlook.
This series of vessels has an overall length of approximately 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a depth of 19.1 meters. Classed by Lloyd’s Register, they are equipped with energy-saving devices and utilize the latest energy-saving technologies.
This series of vessels also features a new energy-saving system, consisting of a propeller cap fin and energy-saving duct, specifically designed by SDARI for this type of MR oil tanker. This reduces main engine energy consumption, improves propulsion efficiency, and further reduces fuel consumption while meeting the latest regulations and EEDI Phase III requirements.
The vessel is also equipped with a new tank cleaning water system, allowing shipowners to more conveniently handle tank washing water within restricted areas. The cargo oil system features a flexible and efficient loading design, capable of simultaneously loading seven types of cargo. This design better meets market demand and enhances market competitiveness.
