On August 20, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) held a steel cutting ceremony at Zhenhua Offshore Engineering for the construction of two 38,000 DWT multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels for Chipolbrok (Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company).
Classified by DNV, the 38,000 DWT multi-purpose heavy-lift vessel has a total length of 182 meters, a beam of 30 meters, a design draft of 9.8 meters and a speed of 14.5 knots.
The vessel is equipped with three 350-tonne cranes (with a combined lifting capacity of 700 tonnes), ensuring the safe handling of large cargoes. It features two ultra-long cargo holds (with a maximum hold length of 76.8 meters) and a fully exposed deck, making it ideal for the loading and transportation of large machinery, equipment, and project cargo. The cargo holds include adjustable movable second decks, offering excellent cargo adaptability and a significant advantage in terms of the scale of project cargo transportation.
In addition, its propulsion system is equipped with a deflector shield and rudder bulb energy-saving device, as well as a 1,000-kilowatt battery hybrid power system, which performs well in terms of reducing energy consumption and emissions, actively responding to the development concept of green shipping.
The commencement of construction on two 38,000-ton multipurpose heavy-lift vessels marks a significant step forward for ZPMC and Chipolbrok in the field of offshore engineering equipment. Once operational, these vessels will primarily serve major projects along the Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing shipping capacity along these routes and contributing to the interconnection of infrastructure and smooth trade among countries along the route.
