On August 20, the “MUGELLO” – the first 75,000 DWT LR1 oil tanker constructed by New Yangzi Shipbuilding under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group for shipowner Evalend – departed from the shipyard’s wharf and was delivered for operation.
This vessel has an overall length of 227.9 meters, a beam of 36 meters, a designed draft of 12.2 meters, a structural draft of 13.7 meters and a service speed of 14.5 knots, meeting EEDI Stage III requirements.
“MUGELLO” is a new generation 75,000 DWT Panamax oil tanker developed and designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). Its hull line and structure have been optimized and iterated. The vessel is equipped with six pairs of liquid cargo tanks and one pair of slop tanks. In addition to transporting crude oil and product oil, it can also carry three types of chemicals, further enhancing its loading capacity.
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group is constructing a series of 10 LR oil tankers with a deadweight tonnage of 75,000 tons for Evalend Shipowners. The first vessel in the series was kickd off construction in mid-July 2024, was launched in late January 2025, and successfully completed sea trials in mid-July, with all test results meeting design standards. The vessel is classified by the Lloyd’s Register (LR).
On August 18, witnessed by representatives from both sides, Mr. Andreas Ploumis, representative of the shipowner Evalend, and Mr. Du Chengzhong, Deputy General Manager of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and General Manager of New Yangtze Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents for the “MUGELLO” on behalf of both parties.
