As a new shipyard established only a few months ago, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng Nanjing Branch has achieved breakthroughs in the construction of stainless steel chemical tankers.
On August 12, the 25900-4# stainless steel chemical tanker built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng Nanjing Branch for SC Shipping (Shanghai) successfully laid keel, marking the entrying assembly phase of the vessel. And this is the second high-end stainless steel chemical tanker built by the company.
It is reported that the 25900-3# vessel is the first stainless steel chemical tanker constructed by Yangzhou Dingheng Nanjing Branch since its establishment, and also the first newly-built vessel launched by the company in the form of airbags since its founding.
Reportedly, SC Shipping (Shanghai) had ordered a total of 7+5 25,900 DWT chemical tankers from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng in 2022 and 2024, all of which will be delivered before 2028.
As the prototype vessel of 25,900 DWT high-end stainless steel chemical tankers in the market, the vessel under this project features duplex stainless steel cargo holds and meets Tier III emission standards. It is a “flagship product” of China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng and also a star vessel of SC Shipping (Shanghai) that navigates the global shipping market.
This tanker is renowned for its excellent adaptability, covering a diverse range of cargoes such as conventional refined oil products and high-risk chemicals, and is capable of carrying over 90% of the world’s oil and chemical product types. The tonnage of this tanker can also meet the needs of both ocean trunk lines and regional feeder trade. Its innovatively designed low fuel consumption power system, combined with the optimized hull lines, demonstrates significant market competitiveness in the context of the green shipping trend.
Public information shows that China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng Nanjing Branch was established on January 6, 2025, and the company name change was completed on April 28, 2025. Its main businesses include shipbuilding, ship repair, ship design, etc.
SC Shipping (Shanghai) operates nearly 80 chemical tankers with a deadweight tonnage of 3,000-40,000 tons. It is a leader in the global transportation of fine liquid chemicals such as PMDI, TDI, HMD, PO, and other goods.
