On August 12, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) held a naming ceremony at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard (Changhong International) for its third and fourth 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships (Hull Nos.CHB2029 and CHB2030). The two new ships were named “MSC EDNA” and “MSC ADELE” respectively.
Classed by DNV, the series of vessels has a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a draft of 25 meters and a design speed of 20 knots.
It is worth noting that on the afternoon of August 11, Changhong International and MSC successfully completed the signing of the delivery documents of the “MSC EDNA” (CHB2029) through video and successfully delivered it to the shipowner.
Changhong International stated that the successive deliveries of the MSC’s 11,500-TEU series ships mark a solid step forward for Changhong International in promoting refined management, improving production efficiency, shortening construction cycles and reducing construction costs, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent high-quality delivery of ships.
