The shipbuilding companies affiliated to SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC) firmly adhere to the “shipbuilding + shipping” dual-drive model, have seen a continuous stream of ship deliveries and contract signings, innovated their shipping businesses, and achieved steady development. As of the end of June, 17 ships have been delivered, fulfilling more than half of both the time and task targets; and held an order backlog of 72 ships.
Sumec Marine continues to strengthen its construction capabilities, accelerates the construction speed of the dock and the production efficiency of the terminal at the New Dayang Shipyard Base. It has successively delivered methanol dual-fuel feeder container ships, Crown 63 3.0 version bulk carriers, 41,000 DWT Handy bulk carriers, etc., achieving an average ship delivery time 2.5 months ahead of the contract delivery date, which has been well received by market customers.
Sumec Marine has continuously optimized its product and market structures, expanded its market share in Japan, and officially entered the field of MR product tanker construction, achieving full coverage of the three mainstream ship types of tanker, bulk carrier and container ship. At present, the production schedule of its subsidiary New Dayang Shipyard is scheduled to 2028, with a backlog of 63 Crown 63 3.0 version bulk carriers, and the “Crown” brand effect and market reputation continue to improve.
In terms of shipping, Sumec Marin has recently taken delivery of 5 new ships, further expanding its fleet. Meanwhile, by closely monitoring market trends and strategically locking in charter rates for certain ships at opportune times, the company has maintained stable operations and ensured steady returns. West African iron ore fines transported by Capesize bulk carriers have been arriving at ports in succession, achieving new results in transport capacity management. Technical management has taken over four ships, playing a positive role in expanding the company’s business scope and enhancing its market influence.
In the second half of 2025, SUMEC will persist in focusing on the field of high-end equipment manufacturing, continue to forge the advantages of ship type brands in segmented markets and the synergistic advantages of the entire industrial chain operation, and strengthen, optimize and expand the green ship business model driven by the “shipbuilding + shipping” dual engines.
