On June 26, CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding ushered in a milestone moment – it undertook the routine docking repair of the luxury cruise ship “Dream” for the first time. This project marks a significant breakthrough for the company in the field of high-end ship repair.
As a star cruise ship on Asian routes, the “Dream” is 261 meters long, 40 meters wide, and has a full load displacement of 77,499 tons. It can carry 2,222 passengers at a time on the golden route between Tianjin, Japan, and South Korea.
Undertaking the routine repair of the “Dream” is not only a testament to the shipowner’s high recognition of Beihai Shipbuilding’s technical capabilities, but also an important step forward for Beihai Shipbuilding in moving toward high value-added ship repair.
With years of experience in the field of ship conversion and repair, Beihai Shipbuilding’s ship repair business has developed a comprehensive project management system and a technical innovation system.
From the green retrofitting of ultra-large container ships to the world-leading conversion of LNG ships to FST, Beihai Shipbuilding has continued to increase its investment in the research and development of environmentally friendly ship repair technologies, overcoming multiple “bottleneck” challenges and laying a solid foundation in management and technology for undertaking high-value-added ship repair projects.
