Anhui’s Second LNG-Powered PCTC “AICC Kunpeng” Embarks on Maiden Europe Voyage with 5,000 Chinese Vehicles

On June 19, the second PCTC in the series of 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs invested by Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation, a subsidiary of Anhui Port and Shipping Group, was officially named at the Haitong International Terminal in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Area. The PCTC was named “AICC Kunpeng” and was delivered and put into operation on the same day. After delivery, the “Kunpeng” immediately set off to carry out its first voyage from China to Northwest Europe.

This PCTC “AICC Kunpeng” is the second ocean-going Ro-Ro vessel that Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation has welcomed after the “AICC Huanghu” and is also the second ocean-going Ro-Ro vessel in Anhui Province, marking another solid step forward for Anhui in promoting the local automobile industry to “go global”.

It is reported that the PCTC “AICC Kunpeng” is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a maximum draft of 10 meters and a total tonnage of 71,000 tons. The propulsion system uses the latest generation of WinGD dual-fuel main engine, MacGregor electronically controlled RORO system, with 12 decks (including 4 liftable decks), 7,000 standard parking spaces, and uses LNG dual-fuel power.

The PCTC “AICC Kunpeng” also has iCER technology and is equipped with a permanent magnet shaft generator. The BOG energy-saving design meets the International Maritime Organization’s current most stringent NOx emission regulations Tier III requirements, and can carry various types of vehicles including passenger cars, trucks, construction machinery and new energy vehicles.

The maiden voyage of the PCTC “AICC Kunpeng” was put into the China-Northwest Europe route. It will depart from Shanghai Port, head to the Mediterranean and Northwest European ports, and finally return to Germany. The maiden voyage carried more than 5,000 export commercial vehicles of brands such as Chery, JAC, Jietu, BAIC, and Golden Dragon, equivalent to about 76,000 cubic meters, providing new and powerful support for Chinese auto companies to explore the Northwest European market. The deployment of this PCTC has further expanded the self-owned capacity pool of Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation, broadened the territory of Anhui’s ocean shipping routes, and provided new momentum for Chinese auto companies to go overseas.

Next, Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation will be committed to providing efficient, convenient, safe and green ocean transportation services, continuously expanding routes such as China-Mexico, China-Northwest Europe, and China-Mediterranean, and further building a “RoRo + container” dual-channel service matrix to serve domestic and foreign automobile companies in ocean transportation.
