SAIC Anji Logistics Expands Fleet with Second 9,500 CEU Green PCTC for Global Auto Exports

On June 13, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd.(“CMJL (Nanjing)”) officially delivered the second 9,500 CEU methanol-ready PCTC “Anji Soundness” to SAIC Anji Logistics. On the same day, the vessel set sail on its maiden voyage to Europe.

Anji Soundness is the sister vessel of the previously delivered world’s largest ro-ro vessel “Anji Ansheng” , and is currently the world’s largest and most capable next-generation ultra-Panamax PCTC. “Anji Ansheng” was launched in March 2024 and is the first 9,000 CEU methanol-ready PCTC built by SAIC Anji Logistics. It is also the first of 14 ocean-going vessels the company plans to build over the next three years with an investment of RMB 10 billion, with each vessel costing approximately RMB 640 million.

This type of vessel has a total length of 228.00 meters, a beam of 37.80 meters, a structural draft of 10.30 meters and a single engine and single propeller with a bow thruster. The main and auxiliary engines are equipped with SCR, and the main and auxiliary engines and boilers are equipped with SCRUBBER to meet Tier III emission requirements. The main and auxiliary engines and boilers of the PCTC are all convertible to use methanol fuel, with lower emissions and future-oriented, providing a clear path to achieve decarbonization goals.

Anji Soundness’s maiden voyage will pass through the three major ports of Shanghai, Lianyungang and Yantai, after loading Chinese brand passenger cars and construction machinery, it will sail around the Cape of Good Hope to ensure transportation safety and timeliness, and finally arrive in European countries such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The entire journey is about 16,000 nautical miles and the estimated sea voyage time is 40 days.
