Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Hits Milestone with 33rd PCTC Delivery

According to the Fujian Ship Export Base Chamber of Commerce, as of the second quarter of this year, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding), successfully delivered a 7,500 CEU LNG PCTC. To date, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry has delivered a total of 33 PCTCs of various series and specifications to domestic and international customers.

In addition, as of June 9 in the second quarter, the PCTC production undertaken by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry has been successful. Among them, the first 5,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC in the series was successfully started construction; the first 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC in the series completed sea trials, one PCTC was successfully launched, and one PCTC was laid keel. Furthermore, production milestones are being achieved in a timely and orderly manner, with continuous and rapid progress being made.

On May 23, the first unit of the 5,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC series, constructed by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for East Pacific Shipping Company (EPS), commenced construction as scheduled.

The PCTC is classed by DNV, with an overall length of 190 meters, a depth of 35.6 meters, a design draft of 8.3 meters and a maximum draft of 9.5 meters. It is used for global service (except polar waters) and can carry cars, vans, buses, trucks, MAFI ro-ro trailers and high-heavy ro-ro cargo, as well as new energy vehicles and dangerous goods packaged in IMDG. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEV) can be loaded on decks 9, 10 and 11. The propulsion system of this ship consists of FPP, shafting and dual-fuel high-pressure main engine.

On June 4, a 7,500 CEU PCTC LNG dual-fuel PCTC built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for Japan’s Santoku was successfully launched, marking its official entry into the new phase of dock outfitting and mooring commissioning.

On June 5, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry held a keel-laying ceremony for the fourth PCTC in the series of 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs built for Santoku, marking the official start of the vessel’s hull assembly phase.

On June 9, the first unit of the 7,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC series, constructed by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for Japan’s Sandokai, successfully completed its sea trials and safely berth at the dock. This marks the final sprint before delivery.

It is worth mentioning that Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry successfully delivered the 33rd LNG PCTC, Guijiangkou, three months ahead of schedule, which will accumulate experience for subsequent shipbuilding.
