New Dayang Shipbuilding Secures Order For Two 1,100 TEU Feeder Container Ships From Shanghai Minsheng Shipping

On June 10, Shanghai International Tendering Co., Ltd. released the “Notice of Bid Evaluation Results for the New Shipbuilding Project of Two 1,100-TEU Feeder Container Ships of Shanghai Minsheng Shipping Co., Ltd.”

According to the public announcement results, Sumec Marine Co., Ltd. (including the consortium: New Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.) successfully won the bid for the project.

According to the tender notice, the container ship has an overall length of about 147.90 meters, a breadth of 23.25 meters and a depth of 11.50 meters.

So far this year, New Dayang Shipbuilding has made public a number of shipbuilding contracts, including four 64,100 dwt bulk carriers and four 50,000 dwt product tankers for Singapore’s Adhart Shipping and two 64,000 dwt bulk carriers for Japan’s Kasuga Kaiun.

According to the official website, Shanghai Minsheng Shipping was formerly known as Shanghai Branch of Minsheng Shipping. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Minsheng Shipping. and was rebuilt in 1985. The company is mainly responsible for container liner transportation on near-sea routes and domestic and foreign trade container cargo transportation in the Yangtze River Basin, especially the transportation of foreign trade imports via Shanghai along the Yangtze River to Chongqing, Luzhou, Sichuan and other southwestern hinterlands. At present, the company’s near-sea container liner routes include China-Japan container liner routes and Shanghai-Taiwan container liner routes.
