Nissen Kaiun, one of Japan’s largest private shipping companies, has once again ordered new a vessel.
Nisshin Shipping has ordered a 115,000 dwt-class LR2 product tanker from HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding, according to Trade Winds. The new vessel is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2028 at a cost of about $73.5 million.
This is the 3rd LR2 product tanker ordered by Nisshin Shipping this year, with the first 2 ordered in April this year and to be built at HD Hyundai’s chartered facility at the Agila Subic shipyard in the Philippines, the sources said. The first 2 vessels will be delivered in the first quarter of 2028 at a cost of about $72.5 million each.
In addition to tankers, Nisshin Shipping has also ordered two 45,000 cubic meter liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers from HD Hyundai Mipo this year, with a total value of about $161.8 million and a single-vessel cost of $80.9 million, which are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2027.
