Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) took delivery of the first 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship MSC LEILA (CHB2027) from Changhong International via virtual signing on May 28.
“MSC LEILA” is the first unit of this series of 10 ships, and is also the largest 10,000 TEU class dual-fuel container ship built in Zhejiang Province. This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently developed and designed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design & Research Institute (CIMC ORIC).
The ship has a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a designed speed of 20 knots with full intellectual property rights. It adopts LNG and traditional fuel dual-power propulsion, the industry’s most cutting-edge ammonia fuel “Ready” design and installation of windshield energy-saving devices.
At the same time, it adopts a double-island layout and is equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel storage tank in its class. The cruising range of LNG mode and fuel mode can meet the single round-trip requirements of the classic China-Europe or China-US routes, ensuring the flexibility of the shipowner’s operating plan.
The successful delivery of “MSC LEILA” marks a new stage for Changhong International in the field of green and intelligent ships. The company will continue to be customer-oriented, promote technological innovation in shipbuilding, and assist the low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry.
It is reported that Changhong International currently holds MSC’s orders for the construction of 36 LNG dual-fuel container ships of various types, including 10 11,500 TEUs, 10 10,300 TEUs, 12 19,000 TEUs, and 4 22,000 TEUs, making it MSC’s largest global partner in the new shipbuilding field.
