COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) Kicked Off Construction of 64,900 DWT Crude Oil Tanker

On May 8, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) kicked off the construction of a 64,900 DWT crude oil tanker (Hull No.N1215) built for COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation. This project is another ship type that COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) cooperates with COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation in the field of shipbuilding again after the 49,900 DWT product/crude oil tanker.

The 64,900 DWT crude oil tanker has a length of 224.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters and a range of about 12,000 nautical miles. The vessel will fly the five-star red flag and is classed by China Classification Society (CCS).

The vessel’s main and auxiliary engines are equipped with SCRs to meet NOx Tier III emission requirements, and are designed to meet the requirements of Energy Efficiency Design Index Phase III, as well as the methanol pre-set MFR(m,P), and the “Essential Component” requirements of the Petroleum Companies’ International Maritime Forum (PCMF) and ExxonMobil rules.

It is understood that since 2021, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) has successfully built and delivered two 49,900 DWT product/crude oil tankers for COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation. The smooth start of construction of the 64,900 DWT tanker has opened a new chapter for further deepening cooperation between the two parties.
