On April 21st, China Merchants Jinland Shipyard (Nanjing) (“CMJL (Nanjing)”) held a delivery ceremony for the 62,000 DWT Handymax multi-purpose vessel “Mingrong” in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province.
This series of 62,000 DWT Handymax multi-purpose vessel is designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) and classed by China Classification Society (CCS).
“Mingrong” is 199.9 meters long, 32.26 meters wide and has a designed speed of 14.4 knots. The vessel adopts CFD-optimized line design, has 5 cargo holds and 4 cranes on the port side, with a maximum lifting capacity of 300 tons.
The vessel is equipped with energy-saving and environment-friendly equipment such as large-diameter propellers and meets the international standard of PHASE 3 series of Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) for vessels; the vessel is installed with the energy-efficiency management system developed by China Merchants Industry, and the IMP management system pioneered by China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) will also be equipped later on, making it the newest generation of environment-friendly and economic energy-saving multi-purpose heavy lift vessel.
It is worth mentioning that this vessel is a milestone achievement of the deepening cooperation between CMES and China Merchants Industry, marking a breakthrough in the in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the fields of new ship construction and ship maintenance, and injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the industry. The vessel adopts the latest energy-saving and environmentally friendly design, and is further optimized and improved on the basis of the first vessel. The crane is increased to 150 tons, which enriches the cargo capacity of the multi-purpose fleet and will further enhance the scale of the fleet and the ability to serve customers.
