PanStar’s cruise-type ro-ro vessel to be launched soon

South Korean cruise and ro-ro service operator PanStar Group announced on September 12 that Panstar Miracle, a cruise-type ro-ro vessel being built by Dae sun Shipbuilding, has been moved to a floating dock and is expected to be launched on October 11, 2024, the company said.

In July 2022, the PanStar Group signed a shipbuilding contract for the Panstar Miracle with Dae sun Shipbuilding. The ship started construction on October 4, 2023 and is scheduled for sea trials in February 2025 and naming and delivery at the end of March.

After delivery, the ro-ro vessel will be deployed on the Busan-Osaka route as well as the Busan Overnight Cruise and various themed sailings in April 2025, coinciding with the opening of the World Expo in Osaka, Japan.

Panstar Miracle is the first cruise-type ro-ro vessel built by PanStar Group in Korea, with a gross tonnage of 22,000. It measures 171 meters in length and 25.4 meters in width, and is equipped with 102 passenger cabins that can accommodate up to 355 passengers while carrying 254 20-foot containers.

The vessel will be equipped with interiors similar to those of European cruise ships and various recreational facilities such as balcony cabins, outdoor swimming pools and jogging tracks.

In addition, it adopts a linear design that significantly reduces noise and vibration, and will introduce for the first time in Korea an eco-friendly hybrid propulsion system that dramatically reduces fuel consumption and emissions by adding an electric motor and generator to a diesel engine.
