DHSC signed contract with Maran Tankers for three tankers

According to Trade Winds, the Maria Angelicoussis-led Greek shipowner Maran Tankers has signed a provisional newbuilding contract with Daehan Shipbuilding (DHSC) for three 158,000-dwt dynamic positioning two shuttle tankers in a value of $390 million.

Maran Tankers placed the order to against Petrobras’ long-term charter. And this is the first time for Maran Tankers to built shuttle tanker.

It is reported that Greek shipowners have been very active in the newbuilding market over the past year. By the end of September 2023, Maran Gas and Maran Tankers, led by Maria Angelicoussis, had placed orders for a total of 21 vessels.

In August 2023, MARAN Tankers announced the exercise of an option on four 155,500 dwt liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel Suezmax tankers from New Times Shipbuilding in China.

It is understood that MARAN Tankers signed a contract with New Times Shipbuilding in April 2023 for the construction of 4+4 LNG dual-fuel Suezmax tankers. The Greek shipowner’s order book with New Times Shipbuilding has increased to eight with the four optional orders coming into effect. The first four units will be delivered in 2026, while another four are scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarters of 2027.
