COSCO Shipping Heavy Industries Delivers The Project of MOSS Ball Tank LNGC Conversion to FSRU

On January 16th, the delivery ceremony of Galea LNGC converted Prometheus FSRU of China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering undertaken by Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry was successfully held. This is the first project of MOSS ball tank LNGC conversion to FSRU in China.

The project adopts the EPC contract model. The project adopts the EPC contract model. Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has completed key works such as front-end design, foundation design, detailed design and production design, international and domestic material and equipment procurement, construction and lifting of regasification module and power module, site modification, equipment installation and commissioning and gas test.

The FSRU is named after Prometheus, the man who brought fire and hope to the world in western mythology. With a length of 296 meters, a breadth of 46 meters, a storage capacity of 137,000 cubic meters of LNG, and a regasification capacity of 4×105 MMSCFD, the FSRU will serve the Port of Vassilikos LNG Terminal Project in Cyprus.

The project is the largest engineering project in Cyprus in recent years, and is an important part of its national energy strategy, as well as an important step in reaching the EU emission reduction targets and increasing the proportion of natural gas-fired power generation, which will help Cyprus to reduce its carbon emissions by 30% and lower the cost of power generation by 15-25%.

The delivery of this project marks that Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry is now capable of working on the whole chain ( design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and gas test ) of LNGC converted FSRU.
