Recently, the “Guo Qiang Hai,” an 80,000 DWT multi-purpose grain carrier invested in and built by COSCO SHIPPING Development, was successfully named at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian). This vessel is the ninth in COSCO SHIPPING Development’s series of multi-purpose grain carriers.
The “Guo Qiang Hai” measures 229.95 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 21 meters in depth. It features a design characterized by large-capacity, fully open-hatch box-shaped cargo holds. This spacious configuration facilitates efficient grain loading and unloading, meeting the transport requirements for commodities such as soybeans, corn, and wheat—as well as other dry bulk goods—while also accommodating diverse cargo types, including containers and large-scale equipment.
To meet the rigorous standards for cargo safety and quality control inherent in deep-sea grain transport, the vessel is equipped with systems for ventilation, dehumidification, and cargo monitoring. It also incorporates green, low-carbon design elements, underscoring its specialized suitability and reliable performance. Following delivery, the vessel will be chartered and operated by COSCO SHIPPING Bulk for the maritime transport of bulk commodities, including grain.
