Wuchang Shipbuilding Delivers Seventh 18,500 DWT Product/Chemical Tanker to Athenian Sea Carriers

On September 29, Wuchang Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully delivered the seventh 18,500 DWT product/chemical tanker built for the Greek company Athenian Sea Carriers.

Wuchang Shipbuilding stated that the 18,500 DWT product/chemical tanker is the seventh vessel in a series of 10 vessels built as part of an in-depth collaboration with the Greek company Athenian Sea Carriers.

This vessel features a scientifically sound design and outstanding performance, incorporating an advanced methanol/LNG dual-fuel “Ready” system. Equipped with a 6.6 kV high-voltage shore power system and an unmanned engine room configuration, the vessel fully complies with the latest IMO Tier III emissions requirements and EEDI Phase III energy efficiency standards.

It combines numerous advantages—including environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, smart operation, and safety and reliability—and is suitable for unlimited navigation zones worldwide. Capable of transporting liquid cargoes such as refined oil products and chemicals, it represents a highly competitive new generation of green, smart liquid cargo carriers in the current international shipping market.
