On September 28, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (XSI), a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd., successfully delivered the 5,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) “RS ATLANTICO,” built for Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).
The “RS ATLANTICO” is the first vessel in this series of 5,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTCs. The vessel has an overall length of 190 meters, a depth of 35.6 meters, a design draft of 8.3 meters, and a maximum draft of 9.5 meters. It is designed for global service (excluding polar waters) and is capable of carrying passenger cars, trucks, buses, MAFI roll-on/roll-off trailers, and heavy and heavy-duty (H&H) roll-on/roll-off cargo, as well as new energy vehicles and dangerous goods packaged in accordance with the IMDG Code. The vessel’s propulsion system consists of an FPP, a shafting system, and a dual-fuel high-pressure main engine.
The PCTC is a flagship vessel type for Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry; following the 2,900 TEU container ship series, this project marks the second collaboration between Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry and EPS. The successful delivery of the vessel is of great significance for Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry as it deepens its presence in the green Ro-Ro vessel market and optimizes its high-end product portfolio.
