On September 28, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) successfully named and delivered the “Zhi Neng Yun Fan,” the first 50,000 DWT MR product tanker built for COSCO Shipping Energy.
This vessel represents another collaborative achievement between the two parties following the delivery of two 64,900 DWT smart cybersecurity-enabled crude oil tankers, and marks the first time that a full suite of smart ship systems and end-to-end cybersecurity protection has been successfully implemented on a domestic refined oil tanker of this tonnage class.
The “Zhi Neng Yun Fan” is 182.9 meters long, with a beam of 32.26 meters, a depth of 18.2 meters, a designed draft of 11 meters, and a designed speed of 14 knots. The vessel fully complies with the latest global environmental regulations, supports the use of biofuels, and provides ample room for future fuel upgrades.
As a globally operating vessel engaged in both domestic and international trade, the vessel can carry a wide range of oil products, including crude oil and jet fuel. Its cargo oil piping system supports the simultaneous loading and unloading of three different grades of cargo oil, balancing cargo capacity with compatibility with major global ports. It can efficiently support diverse operational needs, such as regional refined oil distribution and transoceanic transport.
Intelligent systems and cybersecurity are the hallmark core strengths of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian)’s high-end oil tanker products. The vessel is equipped with a comprehensive suite of intelligent ship systems covering all operational scenarios—including operational scheduling, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance—which effectively enhance navigational safety and operational efficiency. In terms of cybersecurity, the system has fully passed validation against the IACS UR E26 cyber resilience standard and received certification from the China Classification Society (CCS), establishing a full-chain security protection system from the device layer to the system layer and building a robust barrier for the vessel’s digital operations.
Once the “Zhi Neng Yun Fan” enters service, it will further expand the scale of COSCO Shipping Energy’s refined oil tanker fleet. Both parties will continue to strengthen their synergies, using high-end shipbuilding to support the stability of the national energy transportation supply chain and provide solid support for the shipping industry’s transition toward green, low-carbon, digital, and intelligent operations.
