On September 24, CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered the 174,000 m³ LNG carrier “Puteri Kelantan,” built for Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS).
This vessel is the eighth LNG carrier delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua this year. Following its naming ceremony on September 2, the vessel was delivered 188 days ahead of the contractual delivery date.
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding stated that the “Puteri Kelantan” is part of the fifth-generation “Changheng” series of LNG carriers. The vessel incorporates advanced hydrodynamic optimization technology, balancing high-efficiency navigation performance with versatile operational adaptability, and is equipped with a custom-designed noise-reduction system that effectively reduces noise from the fan and exhaust pipes.
This series of vessels innovatively features a full range of domestic cryogenic valves—independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding—installed in the core systems of their liquid cargo tanks. These cryogenic valves passed commissioning and validation testing with zero defects, effectively resolving supply chain bottlenecks and driving a major breakthrough in China’s capacity to domestically produce key equipment for LNG carriers.
