On September 23, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) held a naming and delivery ceremony for the “ASP LUCY,” the first in a series of 115,000 DWT LR2 ocean-going refined oil/crude oil tankers built for CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company. Following delivery, the vessel will be leased on a long-term basis to the Vietnamese shipping company Asia Pacific Shipping Co., Ltd. (ASP).
The “ASP LUCY” has an overall length of approximately 249.80 meters, a beam of 44.00 meters, a depth of 21.20 meters, and a structural draft of 15.25 meters. Its deadweight at structural draft is 114,800 metric tons, and its design speed at draft is 14.5 knots.
This vessel is diesel-powered and equipped with a desulfurization tower; it is designed to transport crude oil and petroleum products with flash points below 60°C and is intended to operate under a flag of convenience. It features 12 cargo oil tanks (arranged in 6 pairs), 2 slop tanks, and 12 ballast water tanks (arranged in 6 pairs). All emissions and energy efficiency metrics comply with IMO Tier III emission standards and EEDI Phase III requirements, placing the vessel at the forefront of its class in terms of environmental performance and operational cost-efficiency.
The vessel’s charterer, ASP, is a local Vietnamese shipping company established in 2021; specializing in the transport of dry bulk, liquid bulk, and gas cargoes, the company has accumulated extensive experience in operating bulk carriers and chemical tankers. The successful delivery of the “ASP LUCY” marks another significant achievement for CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company in cultivating high-quality overseas clients and expanding its product tanker leasing business, while also signaling a new milestone in the strategic partnership between CSSC Leasing and ASP.
