On September 23, the 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker “ASP SERENE,” built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for Vietnam’s Asia Pacific Shipping Company Limited (ASP), was successfully signed off, named, and delivered.
The “ASP SERENE” is the first 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for ASP. This vessel type represents the latest generation of Aframax tankers independently developed and designed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
The vessel features notable characteristics such as being green, environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, safe, and economical; its nitrogen oxide emissions meet Tier III requirements, and its sulfur oxide emissions comply with applicable standards, making it highly favored by customers
Based on previous reports, ASP placed an order with Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in November 2024 for two 114,000 DWT Aframax product tankers, with each vessel costing approximately $72 million.
