On August 30, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Zhongjian Tongzhou 19,” a 10,000-cubic-meter jack-up trailing suction dredger being built for China State Construction Harbour and Channel Engineering Group.
The vessel has an overall length of approximately 136.5 meters, a beam of 25.6 meters, and a dredging draft of 8.5 meters. It has a crew capacity of 36 and is capable of operating in all navigation zones. It is suitable for a variety of operations, including dredging at domestic and international coastal ports and waterways, land reclamation, and coastal maintenance. The vessel meets DP-1 dynamic positioning requirements and features a high level of automation, enabling it to operate stably under complex sea conditions.
The vessel’s propulsion system features dual-duct adjustable propellers and a dual-engine composite drive, ensuring flexible maneuverability, and is equipped with a world-leading SCR emission control system that promotes environmental sustainability. Additionally, the vessel is configured with dual rakes, dual propellers, and dual pumps, providing all-weather operational capabilities that enable “multipurpose use of a single vessel and all-around functionality of a single engine.” Its comprehensive energy efficiency and operational economic indicators are among the best in China and rank among the world’s leading standards.
It is understood that once the vessel is completed and delivered, it will significantly enhance China’s dredging equipment capabilities and provide solid support for the high-quality development of the marine economy, ecological conservation, and the construction of ports and waterways.
