On August 10, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has successfully delivered the “KOTA ELAN”, a 13,000-TEU LNG-powered dual-fuel container vessel, to Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL). The vessel was delivered 233 days ahead of the contractual delivery date and is the third container ship Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered this year.
This vessel is an eco-friendly container ship independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua, specifically tailored for the shipowner. It measures 335 meters in length, 51 meters in molded breadth, and 27.2 meters in molded depth, with a maximum capacity exceeding 13,000 TEU and the ability to carry 2,200 refrigerated containers.
The vessel is powered by an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system and features a proprietary 12,000-cubic-meter Type-B LNG fuel tank and a Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS), ensuring an exceptional operational range of 22,000 nautical miles in gas mode. It incorporates various energy-saving designs—such as an optimized hull form and a proprietary wind shield—and is equipped with advanced automation and digital systems that provide a more ergonomic operating environment for the crew.
The Kota Elan vessel is precisely tailored to the operational requirements of South American routes; as a dual-fuel container vessel, its delivery will significantly bolster PIL’s green fleet and enhance its core global competitiveness.
